Pencil [to Draw with] - Graphite pencils come in various degrees of hardness, from 9H (the hardest) to 9B (the softest). I use Camlin/Apsara Graphite Pencils with the following grades : 6H, HB, 2B, 4B, 9B/10B. Graphite pencils cost around ₹ 5-10 per pencil.
Sharpner/Knife - It usually doesn't matter which sharpner/knife to use.
Eraser - I use normal pencil eraser. Sometimes kneadable erasers are great but I'm not really a big fan.
Blending Stump [or any other alternative for blending]. - I use blending stumps with different sizes i.e. #1 to #5
You can also start off with digital medium. Digital medium has all the advantages of digital domain like replication, image enhancement techniques etc. You'll be needing the following basic materials.
PC & Pen Tablet
Drawing Software
Here is the list of products that I use for my digital drawings:
Pen Tablet - Using mouse for drawing is NOT recommended as it consumes a lot of time & energy for poor quality of work. Whereas investing in a good pen tablet really pays off, in terms of time, energy & flexibility. Size doesn't make much difference but you must be comfortable using it. I use "One by Wacom(CTL-672)".
Drawing Software - There are two softwares recommended when it comes to digital drawing.
Adobe Photoshop
Krita
